I recorded some videos from iPhone 6s camera. It automatically records video in .MOV format. However, when I tried to import the iPhone video to Avid Media Composer for editing, lots of problems occurred from time to time. Digging around the net, I found that more than one iPhone users are troubled by the issue. Well, luck enough, I’ve figured out the fix. If you are facing the iPhone videos to Avid MC importing issues, just read on.

As known to all, iPhone records videos with H.264 compressed codec. The H.264 codec is a final delivery codec; it is not one you want to use for editing in Avid Media Composer. That’s basic reason why Avid MC won’t import iPhone files. To fix the problem, the easy workaround is transcode iPhone H.264 MOV to DNxHD, a more editing-friendly format for Avid MC. I used Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac to encode all of my iPhone videos to DNxHD for using in Avid Media Composer.
